Spring Into Productivity

As this blog post goes live, it's the First Day of Spring! How exciting! Depending on where you live, it may not feel like spring weather, but that doesn't mean you can't lean in to the change! As we welcome a new season, it's the perfect opportunity to refocus and check in with yourself and your productivity.

While "Spring Cleaning" normally refers to organizing your junk drawer and donating old clothes, who's to say it's not also the perfect excuse to dust off those mental cobwebs? Plus, Netflix's Tidying Up with Marie Kondo probably got you in the mood to organize your life a little earlier this year, so now you have more time and energy to devote to sprucing up other areas of your life! Here's a few ways to SPRING into productivity:

1) Ask for help

Feeling stuck on a project? Ask a colleague to help! Even if they aren't actively assisting you or taking something off your plate, just taking 10 minutes to brainstorm or talk through roadblocks can be hugely helpful. I can't tell you how many times simply bouncing my ideas off of a coworker has hit the "reset" button in my brain and given me a new perspective on a project. I often leave these 5-15 minute mini-meetings feeling refreshed and ready to tackle my to-do list.

2) Take a walk

Springtime means the start of warmer days! Whether you live somewhere that's more temperate year-round or you're just starting to shed your winter layers, odds are good it's nice enough outside to take a quick walk. When I've felt stuck on a project or in a procrastination slump, taking a lap around my office building has been just what the doctor ordered. Leave your phone at your desk, roll out your shoulders, and get some fresh air. You're guaranteed to feel more energized when you come back. Plus, when we're stressed, many of us unknowingly hold onto a lot of tension in our bodies. Walking with purpose is a good time to remind yourself to drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and roll out your neck. You probably didn't realize how tense you were.

3) Change up your #OfficeViews

Go on social media, and you'll see tens of thousands of users sharing photos of their unconventional workplaces, tagging the photos #officeviews and #todaysoffice. Airplanes, coffee shops, public parks, and even picturesque beaches are many digital nomads' daily workplaces–take a page from their book! Springtime is the perfect excuse to change up where you work; the warm weather and extra sunshine makes it easy to get to work just about anywhere.

For optimal productivity when you work out of the office, use a portable monitor! The SideTrak Portable Monitor is a great choice, because it's a mountable monitor for your laptop that goes wherever you do. AND, the best part is it's available for VIP Presale in April!
